Paris is one of the world’s great capitals of creativity, and twice a year, it reinforces this position with Maison & Objet. This professional trade fair brings together brands, designers, interior designers, buyers, distributors, and decoration specialists looking for new collections, trends, and commercial opportunities.
For exhibiting brands, the fair represents much more than a place to present products. It is an international showcase where staging, visual storytelling, and the experience created around each collection directly influence visitor perception.
A professional event held twice a year
One of the distinctive features of Maison & Objet Paris is that it takes place over five days at two different times of the year: January and September. Each edition responds to specific market needs and provides an opportunity to discover new proposals related to furniture, decorative objects, lighting, textiles, craftsmanship, and lifestyle.
The trade fair has more than three decades of history and regularly welcomes around 70,000 professional visitors, approximately 40% of whom come from other countries. It also brings together around 2,500 brands across its different editions, confirming its international scale and importance within the design calendar.
The professionals who visit the event include:
- Architects and interior designers
- Buyers from stores and concept stores
- Retail chain managers
- Designers and creative studios
- Contract sector professionals
- Industry influencers, journalists, and specialized content creators
This diversity makes Maison & Objet a space where creative inspiration and commercial decision-making come together.
Seven universes for understanding contemporary design
The September 2026 edition will be organized into seven immersive sectors distributed across four halls. This structure helps visitors locate brands and products according to their professional interests.
Cook & Share brings together products related to cooking, tableware, and the gastronomic world. Decor & Design showcases furniture, textiles, rugs, decorative accessories, and pieces designed to transform spaces.
Fine Craft highlights craftsmanship and objects created using specialized techniques, while Wellness & Beauty focuses on wellbeing and personal care. These are joined by Fragrance & Ambiance, dedicated to home fragrances; Fashion & Accessories, featuring accessories and style proposals; and Gift & Play, focused on gifts, children’s products, and creative items.
This broad scope enables Maison & Objet to bring together established firms and emerging talent within the same visitor journey. For buyers, it provides an opportunity to carry out comprehensive sourcing; for exhibitors, it offers the chance to connect with different markets and distribution channels.
2,300 brands and an offering that continues to evolve
The Maison & Objet Pulse edition will feature around 2,300 brands from 49 countries. These will include approximately 550 new firms and a significant number of companies that only exhibit physically at this trade fair.
These figures demonstrate the event’s ability to renew its offering and showcase projects that do not yet have a widespread market presence. Initiatives such as Future On Stage promote the visibility of innovative young companies, while Design District provides a space dedicated to designers, emerging studios, and new ways of connecting materials, functions, and objects.
The scale of the event also creates considerable visual competition. Each hall contains numerous collections, messages, and stimuli. Product presentation must therefore be clear, distinctive, and consistent with the brand’s positioning.
When the stand must look like part of the collection
At other trade fairs, a stand may simply need to organize products and facilitate meetings. At Maison & Objet, that approach is not enough. The audience consists of professionals with a highly developed aesthetic sensitivity who are used to analysing compositions, proportions, textures, materials, and lighting.
The exhibition space must act as a natural extension of the collection. This requires careful staging so that products are understood within an environment rather than presented as isolated objects.
An effective stand should achieve several objectives:
- Present the pieces without overwhelming the visitor journey
- Create compositions capable of conveying a lifestyle
- Reinforce brand identity through materials and colours
- Facilitate contact with buyers and distributors
- Incorporate conversation areas without disrupting the visual experience
- Adapt the lighting to the characteristics of each product
It is also important to consider how the space will be viewed from the aisles. At such a visually driven trade fair, the façade, elevated elements, and the stand’s first visible perspective can determine whether a visitor stops or continues walking.
